Transforming information chaos into clarity

With misinformation rampant and trust in media at an all-time low, Internews, an international nonprofit supporting independent media, aims to transform information divides into bridges of understanding.

For Your Information is a strategic report I designed to address the pressing challenges of the current information ecosystem. Distributed as an interactive digital PDF and print report, the document outlines a comprehensive strategy to leverage technology, support local media, and ensure information integrity.

Starting with a flexible, accessible color palette, I laid out dense information in a readable, impactful way. Collaborating closely with the writers, I ensured the design stayed true to the content, focusing on making the report approachable and visually engaging. I incorporated digital motifs like grid patterns, color bars, and information windows to give the design a forward-looking feel.

Challenges included creating a modular color palette, avoiding information overload, and designing a cover that set the tone for the entire document. I emphasized typography to convey key messages without relying on clichés or overused icons and found creative ways to break up the chunks of text.

The internal reception was positive, with people appreciating the report's readability and engaging design. This project showcases my ability to handle report design and art direction, collaborate effectively, and adapt to tight deadlines and evolving requirements.

Cover iterations: we ultimately moved forward with a design that emphasized the acronym FYI with a subtle nod to the digital environment.

The graphic representing elements of a healthy information ecosystem was a key visual in the report, so I pitched a range of options. The initial request was a more organic and abstract interpretation, but the hectagon was chosen for its simplicity.
